Hate Crime

Bedfordshire’s CommUNITY Meditation Service has been set up to support victims of Hate Crimes across Luton, Bedford and Central Bedfordshire. The service aims to reduce hate crimes and increase report rates across these three locations. We tackle this using a variety of methods.

1-2-1 Chatline

Our chatline is accessible to the community via the Bedfordshire CommUNITY Mediation Service website. This is open Monday to Thursday from 9 am until 5 pm and Fridays from 9 am until 4 pm. An initial assessment will occur when contacting our chatline service to see what support you need. If you decide to report a hate crime, you will be supported by our professional team throughout the process.

1-2-1 Reporting Support

You can access 1-2-1 support via our chatline and pre-book face-to-face appointments if that is better for you. If something is not covered by our support, we will signpost you to external support services.

Mediation Service

We provide our services across Luton, Bedford, and Central Bedfordshire in collaboration with the community and the local police to better understanding. We do this to gain insight into the barriers faced when reporting a hate crime. Once barriers are identified, additional support will be provided to tackle this.
